Ingredients

for 12 servings

  • olive oil, for greasing
  • 8 large slices sourdough or brioches, or more as needed
  • 6 oz sliced deli turkey
  • 6 oz sliced deli ham
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 ½ cups milk of choice, or heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard, or honey mustard
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • kosher salt, to taste
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded baby Swiss cheese or Gruyère
  • powdered sugar or monk fruit sweetener, for dusting
  • raspberry preserves or jam, for topping

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°F). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with olive oil.
  2. Cut bread slices into small squares, about 2x2-inches; set aside.
  3. Cut turkey and ham slices in half, then roll to create bouquets and cut into bite-sized pieces. Set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined. Add the melted butter, mustard, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, and pepper; whisk until incorporated.
  5. Arrange half of the bread in an even layer in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Top with half of the turkey and ham. Sprinkle with half of the cheddar and Swiss cheese. Pour half of the egg mixture over the top. Repeat layers with the remaining bread, turkey, ham, cheese, and egg mixture.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the cheese is melted. Allow to cool for 5 minutes.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar and serve topped with raspberry preserves.
