Derby-Style Bourbon Balls

Ingredients

for 30 balls

  • 12 graham crackers, crushed
  • 1 cup
    brown sugar (220 g)
  • ½ cup
    butter, melted (225 g)
  • 5 tablespoons
    bourbon whiskey
  • ¾ cup
    chocolate chips (130 g)
  • 1 cup
    melting chocolate (170 g)
  • ¾ cup
    walnuts, crushed (75 g)
  • 1 teaspoon
    vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon
    coconut oil

Preparation

  1. In a small bowl or glass jar, add the mixed nuts and bourbon.
  2. Cover with lid or plastic wrap and let sit overnight.
  3. Place graham crackers in a gallon-size freezer bag and smash with a rolling pin until the crackers have broken down into crumbs.
  4. Combine the brown sugar, butter, and vanilla until sugar is dissolved.
  5. Add in the crushed graham crackers, walnuts, and chocolate chips.
  6. Freeze for 10-15 minutes or until firm enough to roll.
  7. Form mixture into small balls, and freeze for another 20 minutes.
  8. Combine the melted chocolate and coconut oil.
  9. Coat the balls in melted chocolate mixture and top with walnuts.
  10. Chill for 1 hour.
  11. Enjoy!
