Cream Cheese Filled Banana Bread

Ingredients

for 10 slices

Bread

  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup
    light brown sugar (110 g)
  • ¼ cup
    granulated sugar (50 g)
  • ½ cup
    butter (115 g)
  • ¼ cup
    sour cream, Greek yogurt may be substituted (60 g)
  • 2 teaspoons
    vanilla extract
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 cup
    all-purpose flour (140 g)
  • ½ teaspoon
    baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon
    baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt

Cream Cheese Filling

  • 1 large egg
  • 4 oz
    cream cheese, softened (115 g)
  • ¼ cup
    granulated sugar (50 g)
  • 3 tablespoons
    all-purpose flour

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, mix the egg, sugars, butter, sour cream, and vanilla. Add the bananas, mash into the mixture.
  2. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and mix. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, flour, and egg.
  4. Pour half of the bread batter into a 9x5 inch (22cm x 12cm) pan, pour the cream cheese filling, smooth into corners, top with remaining batter.
  5. Bake at 350°F / 180°C for about 50 mins. Baking times may vary, so keep an eye on the bread.
  6. Allow to cool for 15 mins.
