Here's The Deal With Starbucks' Strawless Lids

The lids might even make your drink taste better.

At Starbucks, one customer figured out a way to reduce straw waste, and it involves just a little bit of resourcefulness.

The trick? Simply ask for the strawless lid that usually tops the chain's nitro cold brews.

If you haven't seen 'em yet, the lids come with a slightly raised sipping hole that lets you drink your cold beverage without spilling any liquid. They're designed primarily for customers to enjoy the foam that tops nitro cold brew drinks, but, according to Foodbeast, can be requested on "any cold drink."

And as of this year, Nitro Cold Brew — and the strawless lid that is the standard for cold brew and cold foam drinks — is currently available in more than 1,400 company-operated stores across the U.S., a Starbucks spokesperson told BuzzFeed Food.

Customers are pretty excited about the discovery, since it means you can enjoy all your iced drinks using what is essentially an "adult sippy cup":
